Irakli Khodeli, i.khodeli@unesco.org ; Ailsa Amila, a.amila@unesco.orgIn the framework of a recently completed UNESCO funded project, the Centre of Studies for Peace and Development (CEPAD) conducted a review of the existing policy framework for social inclusion in Timor-Leste. CEPAD identified vulnerable groups that represent a priority concern for policymakers, and pointed to the gaps and challenges in the formulation and implementation of public policies to promote social inclusion. Based on the evidence gathered, CEPAD also formulated a set of recommendations on how to address the vulnerability issues in the country through promoting inclusive public policies.
The major objective of the proposed National Dialogue on promoting Social Inclusion in Timor-Leste is to bring together key national stakeholders to discuss the findings of the assessment on social inclusion and the recommendations designed to address the disconnect between policy instruments, intervention and praxis. This exercise will result in a tangible roadmap towards enhancing the inclusiveness of the country’s social policies, and addressing the needs of the vulnerable populations.
