The aim of the meeting is to bring together all stakeholders, including government authorities, researchers, experts such as archaeologists, conservators, planners etc., representatives from the Buddhist community and donors in order to exchange on issues, challenges, experiences and information for the conservation and management of the Greater Lumbini Area.

The meeting is being held under the UNESCO/Japanese Funds-in-Trust Project “Strengthening the Conservation and Management of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha (Phase III). The project funded by the Government of Japan is implemented by UNESCO in cooperation with Nepal’s Department of Archaeology, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Lumbini Development Trust.
