The mayors of the eight Creative Cities in Mexico (Ensenada, Morelia, Guadalajara, San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Mérida, Mexico City and Puebla) meet in Mérida to sign the Letter of Intent that allows the creation and operation of the Mexican Network of Creative Cities in the Country.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network was created in 2004 to promote cooperation between cities that identify creativity as a strategic factor in sustainable urban development. The 246 cities that currently make up the Network work together towards a common goal: to place creativity and cultural industries at the center of their local development plan and actively cooperate internationally in the field.

San Cristóbal de las Casas, Ensenada and Puebla joined this Network 5 years ago, so it is important to develop and share the best strategies to prop up the work and the benefits they can provide to its inhabitants.
