Meeting of the Bureau of the MOST Intergovernmental Council
The Bureau of the Intergovernmental Council (IGC) of UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme will meet in Room VII at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, on 20 and 21 February 2018.
It will be the first meeting of the new Bureau members elected during the Extraordinary Session of the MOST IGC in November 2017 in conjuncture with the General Conference.
The main purpose of the meeting, organized by the MOST Secretariat, will be – as per the decision of the IGC Bureau meeting– to consider
(1) the further enhancement of the 2016-2021 Action Plan for the Implementation of the MOST Strategy
(2) the resolutions of the 39th General Conference as they bear on MOST.
The composition of the Bureau is as follows:
President: H.E. Mrs Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Malaysia.
Vice-President from Group I: Prof. Erwan Dianteill, Professor of Cultural Anthropology, Université Paris Descartes, France.
Vice-President from Group III: H.E. Mrs Carolina Stanley, Minister of Social Development, Argentina.
Vice-President from Group Va: Mr Temesgen Walelign Agegnehu, Head of the National Development Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in Ethiopia’s National Planning Commission (NPC), Ethiopia.
Vice-President from Group Vb: Prof. Ibrahim Albawi, Ambassador and Permanent delegate of the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia to UNESCO.
Rapporteur: Prof. Mrs Lucia Mokra, Dean of the Faculty for Social and Economic Sciences of the Comenius University of Bratislava, Slovakia.
As per the revised MOST Rules of Procedures adopted by the 13th session of the MOST IGC in Malaysia in 2017, the meeting will also be open to IGC members which are non-members of the Bureau, as observers.
