Meeting of the Bureau of the 4th Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport
Following the 4th session of the Conference of Parties held in September 2013, its Bureau will meet to discuss the organization of the 5th Conference of Parties in 2015, and the monitoring system of the Convention.
The Secretariat will consult the Bureau on the possibility to organize the 5th Conference of Parties away from Headquarters, subject to the offer by a State Party to cover the related expenses. The meeting will also offer the opportunity for a brainstorming on improvements in the monitoring of commitments, under the Convention, of its 176 States Parties.
The meeting will be attended by the representatives of the following countries: Saudi Arabia (Chair of the Bureau), Cameroon, Dominican Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran, Romania (Vice-Chairs), and the United Kingdom (Rapporteur).
The Bureau is established by the Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport.
The Conference of Parties has overall responsibility for the implementation of the Convention. It is held every two years at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
Among the objectives of the Conference of Parties is the monitoring of compliance with the Convention. Governments are required to provide a report which outlines all the measures they have taken to comply with the provisions of the Convention (including the development of anti-doping programmes).
