Within the framework of the project “Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest,” funded by the UK Government and implemented by the UNESCO Tashkent Office, a master-class for practice and educator journalists will be held in Tashkent, from 25-26 February 2019, with the participation of Mr. Alton Grizzle, Programme Specialist on Communication and Information at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

This event will enhance educational methods and tools which could help in every day practice to prepare of the media content.

The issues related with the Media and Information literacy (MIL), in particularly, concepts, definitions, an integrative approach, key stakeholders, the content, Recent Empirical Research, resources, tools, and example of media initiative promoting MIL will be covered during the master class.

The project “Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest” was launched in June 2018 and focuses on enhancing capacity of Uzbek media sector to produce more objective, impartial, accurate and inclusive high quality media content, including increased awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the media. The project is implemented in cooperation with BBC Media Action who deliver several trainings and workshops on non-news programming, mobile journalism, current affairs programs, etc. for journalists of print media, NTRC and NAEMM. UNESCO works on promoting Media and Information Literacy (MIL) through massive open online course and practical handbook on MIL for pre-service and in-service journalists
