Maghrebian-Finnish Biotechnology Symposium 2018 (MFBS 2018)
The Maghrebian-Finnish Biotechnology Symposium 2018 (MFBS 2018) aims to bring together scientists and researchers, working in the field of biotechnology from Finland and five countries in North Africa (Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia). Participants will share information on the latest scientific and technological developments in this field and explore means to enhance multilateral partnerships. UNESCO, in the framework of the Libyan Funds-in-Trust Project “Enhancing Capacity of the Biotechnology Research Center (BTRC)”, localized in Tripoli (Libya), will pay a particular attention to stimulating North-South and South-South collaboration to enhance human capacities in biotechnology in Libya.
The event will include keynote lectures given by eminent international scientists and experts, as well as oral and poster communications that will be presented by senior and young researchers. The symposium subjects will include breakthroughs in biotechnology research and development, especially in the areas of biocatalysts, genomics, metagenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics and molecular physiology, which have had significant impacts on innovative solutions related to molecular biology, biochemistry, environmental biotechnology, bio-industries and plant biotechnology. The main topics of the Symposium will be: (1) Enzymes and Microbial Biotechnology, (2) Plant and Animal Biotechnology, (3) Environmental Biotechnology, and (4) Pharmaceutical and Health Biotechnology.
