This information meeting is co-organized by the Communication and Information Sector (CI) and the Permanent Delegation of Italy to UNESCO.
The information meeting will take place on Monday 13 May 2019 from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, in Room IX (Fontenoy Building). It will be opened by Emanuela Del Re, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, and Moez Chakchouk, UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information. Participants will include representatives of UNESCO and of Permanent Delegations from the African Regional Group, as well as key stakeholders from West and Central Africa. br /The project that is being launched aims to empower the population in West and Central Africa, in particular youth and women, by building the capacity of media to produce informed, verified and balanced coverage of migration-related issues and reinforcing the safety of journalists. It targets eight countries: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Niger, Nigeria, Mali and Senegal. br /br /The information meeting will serve to present the project as well as to facilitate reflection on relevant global and regional trends. It will include a consultation session to gather Member States’ input and feedback. br /
