The French edition of the UN Creative Economy Report 2013, will be launched on 29 November 2014 by the Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs Irina Bokova, in Dakar, Senegal. The event takes place in the margins of the XV Summit of Francophonie. Organized by the UNESCO Office in Dakar, with the cooperation of the International Organisation de la Francophonie (“OIF”), it will be held in the conference room of the Grand Theatre of the “Village de la Francophonie” with numerous guests attending. In addition to the Director-General, guest speakers will include ministers of culture from African countries and représentatives from OIF and UNDP.

The Report, co-published by UNESCO and UNDP, focuses on creative economy at the local level in developing countries. With many case studies from Africa, the evidence demonstrates how the cultural and creative industries are at the core of local creative economies and how they forge new development pathways that encourage creativity and innovation in the pursuit of inclusive, equitable and sustainable growth and development. Unlocking the potential of the creative economy also means promoting the overall creativity of societies.
