Organized in the context of the Bioethics and Ethics of Science Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, the IV Regional Seminar of National Committees and Commissions on Bioethics and Ethics of Science will take place in Bogotá, Colombia, from 27 to 28 May 2019. It follows the 2015 San Salvador commitment which aims to build a bioethics network and a platform of mutual support for the countries of this region.

Its objective will be to further cooperation and exchange of experiences between different National Committees of Bioethics (CNB) from the region. To this end, the focus will be on their current situation (their achievements and challenges); strengthening of the Bioethics network in the region; and, technical advice and cooperation within the framework of UNESCO's Assisting Bioethics Committees (ABC) Programme.

There will be panel discussions with experts and panel presentations on topics that are high on the region's bioethics agenda. A large variety of topics will be discussed including poverty, justice and bioethics, the state of public health in the region, and ethical aspects of the beginning and end of life.
