The event will be attended by major national and international experts who will discuss topics such as teacher training in the United States and the European Union, the importance and limits of comparative education in teacher training. It will work with dynamic roundtables, coordinated in order to dialogue, understanding and socializing experiences and reflections on the conceptual advances of the comparative education and the difficulties and challenges of "borrowing ideas".
The Seminar converges to a crucial moment in the history of education in Brazil in terms of investment in the initial and continuing education of millions of basic education teachers, who can be benefited with international studies compared, in order to subsidize the renewal process which is already widely institutionalized by Capes in post graduate programs in the country and abroad.
The effort to gather expertise, and call to the relevance in this matter culminates with the launching of the book "International handbook of Comparative Education" organized by Prof. Robert Cowen from the University of London and Prof. Andreas Kazamias from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a work that critically analyzes the challenges of this field of study and its prospects for the future.
