International Literacy Day 2015 in Chile
The International Literacy Day will be celebrated in Chile at the main Library of Santiago, where an event on ‘Literacy and Sustainable Societies’ will take place with the objective to share successful experiences and testimonies on literacy and adult education and to congratulate the Chilean winner of one of the annual UNESCO Confucius Prizes for Literacy, namely the programme on ‘Literacy for People Deprived of Liberty’, run by the school Juan Luis Vives of Valparaiso and offered in two detention centers, one in Valparaiso and one in Rancagua. The programme reaches around 150 inmates, both male and female, every year.
The Chilean main celebration of the 2015 International Literacy Day 2015 “Literacy and Sustainable Societies” will take place at the Biblioteca de Santiago in Santiago de Chile on September 8th, 2015 at 9.30 (GMT -3).
This year’s celebration of International Literacy Day will be dedicated to exploring critical links and synergy between literacy and the future Sustainable Development Goals which will be adopted during the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015.
