This competition aims to inspire architects, designers and engineers to submit innovative architectural projects that address the current key issues for greater environmental, industrial and technological responsibility, and take into account the precepts of sustainable development, enabling the evolution of our society (innovative materials, techniques and fundamental advance in design, development, energy saving or natural resources, recycling…). There are 3 prizes:

- Innovation and Architecture for the Sea
- Innovation and Architecture for Space
- Architecture and Sea Level Rise, in partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.

While over 60% of the world’s population already live within 100 km of the coast, this proportion is estimated to increase to 75% by 2030, representing more than 6 billion people! Sea level rise, estimated at 70 cm by 2070, is also a major concern.

In this context, Jacques Rougerie wanted to create a framework for the emergence and development of new talents (architects, engineers, designers) who will invent and build the habitats and lifestyles of tomorrow, enhancing the potential of the sea and space while respecting these biospheres.

Innovation and sustainability are the key words of this call for creativity. During this edition, 1 749 proposals were submitted, from 90 pays (48% students and 52% young architects). Most of the participants are under 30. Each Award includes a financial contribution, but also a follow-up of the winners to further their projects, with support from the Foundation's network.

The award ceremony is organized under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Honorary President of the Jacques Rougerie Foundation.
It will be followed by a cocktail reception (by invitation only).
