This Round Table is organized within the frame of the Regional Project: "Promoting the values of sport through the education, health and governance of sports federations", a project led by UNESCO Abuja office, in collaboration with ICSS INSIGGHT, ECOWAS, UEMOA, CNOSS, CONFEJES, CONFEMEN, WHO, UNODC, UNWOMEN, IOM, UNICEF and FISU, etc.
The meeting in Ouagadougou will capitalize on the Antananarivo Declaration and further engage discussions for concrete national implementation frameworks and domestication of this Regional Project through its five main components.
They include : (i) promoting an environment conducive to Quality Physical Education (QPE); (ii) disseminating the values of sport in the service of regional integration, peace and peaceful coexistence among peoples; (iii) enhancing women's leadership as means to achieve better governance of sport institutions in Africa; (iv) institutionalize the fight against doping in sport; and (v) promoting access of persons living with disabilities to sport and sports activities.
More specifically, this Round Table will strive toward the following expected results:
1. To present the objectives and implementation stages of the project and generate discussions, observations, inputs and recommendations to articulate each component closer to national needs, building on Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire as case studies ;
2. To raise interest and support from partners and develop a fund mobilization strategy;
3. To agree on a roadmap for next steps and timeline for the two pilot countries.
