This event will address the interlinkages between the social, economic and environmental components of sustainable development with a highlight on social policy-making.
The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs Division for Social Policy and Development (UNDESA / DSPD), in collaboration with UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, is organizing this event.
It will include sessions focusing on:
* General concepts: understanding sustainable development;
* The role of social policy in achieving sustainable development goals;
* National experience and expectations – potential implications for social development at the national level;
* Institutional mechanisms for a new development agenda beyond 2015;
a* Addressing scientific interlinkages between social and other dimensions of sustainable development.
Social policy-makers and experts from several countries will attend, including among others Kenya, Malaysia, Mongolia, South Africa and Thailand.
