Inception workshop for UNESCO SIDA funded project themed: Empowering Local Radios with ICTs (Phase 2) in Kenya
UNESCO is organising a 2 day Inception workshop for its SIDA funded project themed: “Empowering Local Radios with ICTs” scheduled to take place on 10 and 11 September 2015 at the Laico Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. During this event, the participants will learn more about the project and its expected results, as well as measures put in place to ensure the smooth implementation of this project. In addition, 3 roundtable discussions will provide community radio practitioners with an opportunity to interact with stakeholders on a number of issues including: how to leverage the potential of ICTs to empower community radios in Kenya; community radio and infrastructure; and, strengthening networking among journalists and with relevant stakeholders.
The workshop will attract participants from the Communications Authority, Media Council of Kenya, Swedish International Development Agency, Safaricom, Kenya Community Media Network, Community Radio Association of Kenya, Community Media Service, Kenya Telecentres Link Ltd (KENTEL), Hivos, Strathmore, University of Nairobi – School of Journalism and Mass Communications, Airtel, The Sentinel Project, Baliti FM, KOCH FM, Bulala FM, Sauti FM, Kwale Ranet FM, Mwanedu FM, Mangelete FM, and Mugambo Jwetu FM.
This workshop is part of UNESCO’s ongoing SIDA funded project themed: “Empowering Local Radios with ICTs” (2015-2017) that aims at building capacities of radio practitioners in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
