UNESCO session at RightsCon 2019. The session will present UNESCO's Internet Univerality Indicators, the fortcoming research "Steering AI for advanced ICTs Knowledge Societies" and aim to engage with RightsCon and Tunisian stakeholders (who have already contributed to the development of the framework) regarding the implementation of the indicators.
After a short presentation of the Internet Indicators and the launch of the forthcoming UNESCO publication on “Steering AI and advanced ICT’s for Knowledge Societies”, UNESCO will engage in a debate with speakers and the audience about the implementation of the indicators. Speakers will share their experiences of pre-testing, piloting, and preliminary operationalization of the indicators in various national contexts, as well as the positive impacts of the project to improve national Internet policies, empower individuals and contribute to sustainable development. UNESCO also seeks to expand partnerships and synergies with stakeholders in implementing Internet Universality principles and applying Internet indicators in different countries.
