From emergency to sustainable development: Strengthening education systems to leave no one behind in times of COVID-19.
The III Meeting of the ODS-E2030 Regional Steering Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean aims to promote strategic reflection on how this mechanism can support the efforts of the region's Member States to strengthen education systems in the context of the pandemic while working towards the Education Agenda 2030 goals.
The global COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented crisis in all areas and sectors, exacerbating inequalities. Countries and education sector partners are faced with the unprecedented challenge of rethinking strategies and initiatives to support the enormous efforts already made to meet the agenda established in Education 2030.
The meeting has the following objectives: a) to discuss and reach agreement on proposals for action for implementation by the Regional Steering Committee, in support of Member States of Latin America and the Caribbean responding to the crisis of COVID-19; and b) to exchange information about COVID-19 initiatives being undertaken by members of the Regional Steering Committee, and other relevant issues.
The meeting will contribute to the Regional Steering Committee work plan that supports commitments contained in the Cochabamba Agreement and the SDG4 – E2030 Road Map in Latin America and the Caribbean, adopted at the II Meeting of Ministers of Education of Latin America and the Caribbean (Cochabamba, Plurinational State of Bolivia, July 2018).
