ICCAR Expert Meeting: "Towards an enabling environment for urban inclusion"
An expert meeting of the International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities (ICCAR) will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 9 to 10 November 2016.
The meeting is organized in partnership with the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO, within the context of the priority given to urban inclusion within SDG 11 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN New Urban Agenda.
Its purpose will be to discuss and validate the UNESCO publication entitled "Towards an enabling environment for urban inclusion: A guide for good practice". It will bring together the guide’s authors, city officials, development agencies and donor partners, to ensure coherence and added value of the guide.
The meeting will be structured around the questions for each of the twelve thematic elements of the guide, including technical presentations, open deliberations in parallel workshops, plenary discussions and opportunities for an exchange of experience and expertise.
Immediately following the completion of the expert meeting, the Global Steering Committee of ICCAR, along with participating Kenyan cities, will convene on 11 November to share experiences and lessons learned and to discuss a roadmap for action following the adoption of the UN New Urban Agenda.
