A Dialogue on “How ICTs Can Help Achieve Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals” will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 6th November 2018 at UNESCO Headquarters, Room XI (Fontenoy). The event, open to all Member and Observer States of UNESCO and personnel of the Secretariat and NGOs, is organised by the Commonwealth Group at UNESCO, in cooperation with UNESCO’s Communication and Information Sector. Simultaneous interpretation in English and French will be provided.
H.E. Ms Mariam Y. Katagum, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Nigeria to UNESCO and Chairperson of the Commonwealth Group at UNESCO will chair the Dialogue. Mr. Moez Chakhouck, the Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, will represent H.E. Ms Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO. During the opening session, statements will be delivered by the H.E. Ms Zohour Alaoui, President of the General Conference; and H.E. Mr Byong- hyun Lee, the Chairperson of the UNESCO Executive Board.
Prof Asha Kanwar, President and CEO of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), is the keynote speaker at the event, which will also feature technical presentations by the UNESCO's Communication and Information Sector and the Commonwealth Secretariat. These presentations will be followed by a discussion on the role of ICTs in accelerating progress towards the achievements of the SDGs.
The Dialogue is part of the effort of the Commonwealth Group at UNESCO to promote stronger cooperation between the Commonwealth and UNESCO, particularly in the implementation of selected SDGs.
