Joe Hironaka (j.hironaka@unesco.org)The first Hague Summit for Accountability & Internet Democracy, 31 May 2018, is foreseen as an inaugural annual global forum for dialogue among diverse stakeholders and thought leaders in the digital environment, encompassing the World Wide Web, social media, big data analystics, artificial intelligence, robotics and the internet of things, as well as the ethical and legal challenges thereon.
The Summit will be focused on safeguarding the role of the internet as a tool of personal and social engagement. The Summit is targeting concrete steps to increase access to knowledge, transparency, global common understanding ect. and thus to promote maximum sustainable net benefit for people and societies worldwide. The speakers will represent a global multi-stakeholder community from national and local governments, international policy makers and institutes, NGOs, the ICT industry and platforms, as well as other relevant organizations.
