Global Bioeconomy Summit
How can the world economy grow sustainably without threatening our natural resources? How can we feed and provide medicines for billions of people under these circumstances? How can we wisely reconcile economic and ecological concerns while ensuring that the opportunities and challenges of globalization are shared fairly?
A biobased economy offers a promising prospect. It relies on renewable resources and scientific findings based on interdisciplinary collaboration. This means that renewable resources and biotechnological processes primarily help to safeguard food security, health for all, and are also used to generate sustainable energy and in industrial manufacturing. UNESCO will be discussing how knowledge, skills and trainings will be established to serve this sector.
