First Meeting of the CIGEPS Ad hoc Working Group for the Follow-up of MINEPS V
At its last session on 6 and 7 March 2014, the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport (CIGEPS) decided to establish an ad hoc working group to ensure the effective monitoring of the implementation of the Declaration of Berlin, adopted at the 5th World Conference of Sport Ministers (MINEPS V) in May 2013.
The group is responsible for the following tasks:
(i) Coordinate the development of benchmarks and indicators for monitoring the implementation of the Berlin Declaration, particularly at the national level.
(ii) Coordinate the development of tools for self-assessment against the above benchmarks and indicators.
(iii) Consider the opportunity of holding the sixth edition of MINEPS within the 38C/5 timeframe.
The provisional agenda of the meeting includes the following items:
- Mapping relevant multilateral and international initiatives related to sport;
- Clarifying the methodology (focus on indicators) ;
- Mobilization of stakeholders;
- Use of UNESTEAMS and other forms of communication;
- Priorities, process and deliverables;
- Assignment of tasks.
According to Resolution CIGEPS/2014/2, the Ad hoc working group for the follow-up of MINEPS V is comprised of CIGEPS Member States. Other UNESCO Member States are invited to take part as observers.
