On 6-9 September 2016 Montevideo, Uruguay will host the I Latin American and the Caribbean Open Science Forum (CILAC 2016), formulated within the framework of the 2030 Agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The forum is designed to contribute to the building of a regional agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean that strengthens science, technology and innovation policies aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as showcase the latest advances in science, technology and innovation in the region.

CILAC 2016 also takes place within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the first Conference on the Application of Science and Technology to the Development of Latin America (CASTALA) which was organized by UNESCO in cooperation with the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) in September 1965.

This pioneering event, is co-organized by:
