First joint i4policy intervention held at YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2017 in Rwanda
UNESCO will support the first joint i4policy intervention at YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2017 in Kigali, Rwanda. This will aim at providing young innovators across Africa with a platform to articulate their public policy vision, and share experiences working together with policymakers to support innovation, entrepreneurship and youth employment.
The objective of will be to engage young people in modalities and strategies for policy engagement; Re-frame civil society and innovation communities, in particular, as allies for policy makers; and generate engagement with the i4policy platform and other initiatives for policy change and dialogue.
Themes to be discussed include: Youth in Governance Session, the importance of multi-stakeholder approaches; Civic Participation and Youth Leadership and Key policy topics on youth employment, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The YouthConnekt Africa Summit provides a unique opportunity for engagement of young people across the continent in a conversation about civic engagement. Participants to this event will be drawn from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Togo, Ethiopia among other countries.
Youth and innovation communities are an important ally for public policy makers to improve the innovation ecosystems and environment for youth employment. Moreover, such policy engagement provides youth with meaningful leadership skills and the opportunity to engage in systems change.
