A year ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), the Brazilian Doping Control Authority (Autoridade Brasileira de Controle da Dopagem – ABCD) of the Ministry of Sports, and UNESCO are joining forces to combat doping in sport.
In this context, Brasilia will host the First Anti-Doping Intelligence Forum from 12 to 14 April 2015. The event targets controlling bodies and national anti-doping agencies with the participation of authorities and police officers whose work is related to the repression of drug trafficking.
In addition, the first ABCD Seminar on Anti-Doping Education will take place in Sao Paulo (Brazil), on 7 April 2015. Organized by ABCD and supported by UNESCO, the event will bring together some of the top Brazilian athletes. It will also propose lectures and simulations in order to raise awareness about doping control during the 2016 Olympic Games.
Both events are actions within the National Anti-Doping Week, organized from 7 to 14 April 2015. This initiative is sponsored by the Ministry of Sports.
On 6 April 2015, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace will be celebrated. This International Day has been included in the United Nations observing calendar in August 2013. It was celebrated for the first time in 2014.
