Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Council of Ministers of Culture of South-East Europe (CoMoCoSEE)
The Council of Ministers of Culture of South-East Europe ‘Enhancing Culture for Sustainable Development’ (CoMoCoSEE) will be holding its annual meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 17 May 2019 to discuss the role of culture as a powerful tool in international relations. Being the main cultural cooperation platform in South-East Europe, its main purpose is to further strengthen regional cooperation, boosting cultural heritage and creativity as drivers for sustainable development and regional integration.
The theme of the meeting, “culture as a powerful tool in international relations”, is an opportunity to highlight the importance of culture as a tool for enhancing bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation, as numerous of examples and the positive effects of cultural diplomacy can be found in South East Europe, which has been making important investments in the promotion of culture in recent years.
As Bulgaria is currently holding the rotating presidency of the Council of Ministers of Culture of South-East Europe (CoMoCoSEE), its Minister of Culture, Boil Banov, will host this fifth platform meeting since the revision of its format in 2014.
The meeting will be attended by the ministers and high representatives of the CoMoCoSEE Member States: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey. Observers (UNESCO, European Union, Council of Europe) will also attend the meeting.
The theme this year is “Culture as a powerful tool in international relations”.
