The Fifth International Festival of Traditional Cultures and Crafts "ETHNORADUGA" devoted to the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development
The Fifth International Festival of Traditional Cultures and Crafts "ETHNORADUGA" will take place from 21 to 25 May 2014 and is devoted to the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development to be celebrated on 21 May.
The event will focus on the support and promotion of the basic ideas and principles of preservation of cultural diversity identified in UNESCO conventions, including the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005), the Convention for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural heritage (2003) and the UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (2001).
Various multilevel events are included in the Festival and Crafts Fair programme, aimed at promoting cultural diversity among different age groups from all over the world. They are based on one of the main principles of the Intangible Cultural Heritage - continuity. Traditions of the people, transmitted from generation to generation, promote mutual respect for cultural diversity and contribute to the development of creativity. In this regard the program of events includes various types of the intangible cultural heritage:
Knowledge and skills associated with traditional crafts.
This Festival facilitates intercultural dialogue as the best possible investment in peace and development of the promotion of a tolerant upbringing for the younger generation, as well as encouraging the implementation of the main aspects of the action plan for fulfilling UNESCO’s Universal Declaration of Cultural Diversity (2001).
Representatives from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and other countries will be invited for the participation in the cycle of events.
The Festival aims at the creation of a space with a beneficial environment for cultural exchanges and the renaissance of artistic abilities, a deeply felt consciousness of the value of cultural diversity, and the opportunity to learn to develop cooperation amongst the peoples of the world.
