e.volibi@unesco.orgThe International Jury of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize has decided to award the Prize to Mrs Giuseppina Nicolini, Mayor of Lampedusa (Ital), and to the non-governmental organization, SOS Méditerranée (France) for their work to save the lives of refugees and migrants, and to welcome them with dignity. The award ceremony will take place at UNESCO Headquarters on 27 June 2017.
The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize Ceremony will start at 2:00 pm. It will be composed of allocutions by Heads of State and Government, or their représentatives, as well as musical or artistic performances (Emma Shaplin, Ballaké Sissoko and Vincent Segal, Ismaël Isaac and Mokobé, Erri de Luca). The two lauréates, Mrs Giuseppina Nicolini and the NGO SOS Méditérranée, will also deliver a speech.
