As well as participating in EXPO Milan as a member of the UN system under the banner “The Zero Hunger Challenge. United for a Sustainable World”, UNESCO has prepared a broad set of activities and events in and around Venice and other Italian UNESCO sites as part of the Venice to EXPO 2015 programme.

This interactive multimedia installation explores the “water worlds” – beginning with the Venice Lagoon and its historical waterways – which humanity has inhabited for centuries in harmony with the environment.
The goal is to raise awareness on aspects of the world’s heritage that remain largely unexplored.

UNESCO’s contribution to EXPO 2015 was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, Venice (Italy).
