Experts' Consultation Meeting for Advancing Water Education in Asia and the Pacific
This Experts' Consultation Meeting for Advancing Water Education in Asia and the Pacific aims to identify the gaps and to prepare appropriate response to local, national and regional needs on water education, as key for water and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
The meeting is organized by the UNESCO Office, Jakarta in collaboration with PDAM Tirtanadi Provinsi Sumatera Utara and University of North Sumatra (USU) from 24 to 26 May 2016 in Medan, Indonesia.
This strategic event which will bring together, well-renowned water experts with great international experience on delivering water education, aims to identify and understand the challenges of delivering water education in Asia and the Pacific in the context of the global development Agenda 2030 and to contribute to the achievement of the Strategic Plan of the VIII Phase of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) and more specifically its Theme 6 on “Water education, key for water”.
Delivering water education in Asia and the Pacific requires efforts to improve and update water education related activities at all levels. Therefore, water education in the region must be seen in a broader sense than the teaching of hydrological sciences and related scientific disciplines.
