European Launch of the 3d Arab Knowledge Report:"Youth and Localisation of Knoweldge"
This post-launch will present and discuss the main findings of the report, with a special discussion focus on the exchange, transfer and localization of knowledge. The event will also explore possible focus areas for measuring knowledge that could be presented in the form of an Arab Knowledge Index. This event is organized as part of a sequence of post-launch events taking place within and outside the Arab region, following the main launch event that took place during The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation's "First Knowledge Conference" in Dubai - UAE, in December 2014.
The Arab Knowledge Report comes as an indicator of the status of knowledge in the Arab countries. To meet increasing social and economic development challenges, Arab countries must invest in empowering the full and active engagement of their youth in processes of knowledge generation, transfer and localisation.
The event will be followed by a cocktail
The report examines two critical issues:
1. the central role of knowledge production, transfer and localization processes as the engine for future human development, in order to build inclusive and sustainable society;
2. the challenge of integrating youth in such processes in the Arab region. It highlights the major challenges facing the Arab region’s quest to transform its “youth population wealth” into a “knowledge wealth” in order to bridge the growing knowledge gap separating it from other regions in the world.
The report fully echoes the objectives of UNESCO’s Operational Strategy on Youth 2014-2021, whose objectives are to create an enabling environment for an improved youth participation and engagement in global, regional and national processes relating to democracy, peace and development
This post-launch event is jointly organized by UNDP Regional Hub for Arab States and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation.
