Within the framework of an Education Partnership, UNESCO and representatives of the Sport Movement will gather to discuss the development of a values education through sport (VETS) resource aimed at practically supporting curriculum delivery and empowering youth to make informed decisions.
The Education Partnership comprises the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE), the International Fair Play Committee (IFPC), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and UNESCO.
Following a call in March 2014 for research proposals to map curriculum requirements globally and develop a values-based education resource (online and hard copy), work on the material has begun. Partnership representatives will meet to discuss progress made and to plan for the next project phases, namely stakeholder roles and responsibilities, the finalization of the tool and a dissemination plan.
The resource will be culturally appropriate and include age-specific materials designed for use across all curriculum subjects.
