Second International Conference on Water, Megacities and Global Change

Mayors, Governors and officials from Megacities (both current and emerging megacities by 2030) will be invited to attend the Assembly of Mayors and Governors under the auspices of the Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate. It will take place on 14 January 2022, from 14:00 to 17:00.

The official representatives are going to review the Strategic Global Framework of MAWAC, drafted by the Working Group of UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP), consisted of 11 Megacities focal points. The first draft of the framework will be circulated for wider consultation to municipalities, particularly mayor office, with the support of focal points and UNESCO Water Family.

This act will lead to the activation of the cooperation platform of the Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate, by bringing the official commitment to the trans-sectoral joint initiatives that follow, including the establishment of Regional Chapters in 4 regions (Africa and Arab States, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and North America).
