Dutch Caribbean joint island training on the Implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage at the national level
First joint island training held within the framework of the project 'Strengthening the capacities of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, St Eustatius, St Maarten, Saba and Suriname to implement the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.'
This overall project aims to strengthen the national capacities of Suriname and Dutch Caribbean islands for the effective safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and will include training on the implementation of the convention and community-based inventorying, field exercises on inventorying intangible heritage on each of the islands, as well as national consultations with all stakeholders.
This specific activity on the implementation of the 2003 Convention will be hosted by Sint Maarten and will welcome participants from the islands of Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba, St Eustatius and Sint Maarten involved in the development and implementation of ICH safeguarding policies at the local and national levels. The Nederlands Centrum voor Volkscultuur en Immaterieel Erfgoed (the Dutch Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage) will also participate.
