“Discover Your World” conference - World Science Day for Peace and Development
This year’s World Science Day for Peace and Development is dedicated to Celebrating Science Centres and Science Museums. On this occasion, UNESCO together with international networks of Science Centres and Science museums are organizing a one-day conference entitles “Discover Your World”. The main objective of the conference is to bring global attention to the role that Science Centers and Science Museums can play in expanding public engagement in support of global sustainability.
Science Centers and Science Museums play a key role in increasing scientific awareness, engagement and participation among people and particularly the youth in promoting sustainable development and in providing solutions to global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity innovation, renewable energies, water shortages and human health.
Participants, eminent science communicators and representatives of various regional networks of Science Centers and Science Museums, will aim to develop new concepts on communicating on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to diverse audiences, as well as communication tools to inform and train science communicators and professionals on engaging the public with the SDGs.
The conference is organized in collaboration with the Association of Science Technology Centres and the International Council of Museums.
