Developing Vocational Education in Iraq
Within the framework of Iraqi Public Sector Modernization Programme, UNESCO office for Iraq is organizing a five-day workshop aims at discussing the restructuring of the Directorate General of Vocational Education and the pilot activity of implementing internal evaluation of seven selected vocational schools.
UNESCO office for Iraq will discuss with officials from the Ministry of Education (MOE) at the central level restructuring Vocational Education in Iraq, including performing an advanced internal evaluation of selected vocational schools to better assess weaknesses and advantages of this sector.
The work methodology, the proposed structure of the Directorate General of Vocational Education and elements of evaluation criteria to be applied in the pilot activity will be presented and discussed with MOE during the workshop.
The workshop will build on the success of previous workshops in which the mission and key goals of the Directorate in addition to criteria to be applied during the evaluation process were identified. The workshop represents a major and significant step in improving quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Iraq.
