The Consultative meeting, jointly organized with the International Council on Archives (ICA) and the Netherlands National Commission for UNESCO, seeks to explore the establishment of a multi-stakeholder platform for the discussion of digitization practices, digital heritage selection policies, standardization and digital heritage preservation involving all relevant stakeholders.
The main purpose of the PERSIST Project is to foster a high-level policy dialogue among heritage institutions (in the broadest sense of the term), governments and ICT-industry on digital preservation under the aegis of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme. In order to achieve this objective, participants will take stock of various activities underway, review existing selection policies for digital heritage and work collectively towards solutions for long term digital preservation, and establishment of a Global Repository for Heritage Software with relevant ICT industry partners.
