Consultation on bioethics and its management bodies
The "Consultation on bioethics and its management bodies" workshop should allow to define the premises for the implementation of the National Bioethics Committee in the Sahel region: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Senegal.
This activity will be organized in partnership with the National Commission of Senegal for UNESCO and the Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action.
The idea is to start a process that will lead to the implementation of a National Bioethics Committee.
The process will start with this workshop organized in Saly, Senegal, planned from 9 to 11 November 2016.
It aims to define how African communities design debate on bioethics in connection with their societal specificities, and in particular the institutional framework in which such a debate should be organized.
Participants will discuss different elements of bioethics including how the bioethics debate can be articulated with governing bodies at the level of States and international institutions.
This consultation that is inclusive and participatory will be open to some countries of the sub-region and various organic experts, ethicists, lawyers, sociologists, anthropologists, doctors and mathematicians. It will also include representatives of institutions that could contribute to the implementation of a National Bioethics Committee that responds to the aspirations of Senegalese society.
