Concert organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).
The concert of TURKSOY's International Youth Chamber Orchestra at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris was initiated in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and its cooperation with UNESCO in line with the agreement signed between the two organizations from 1996. The orchestra which was founded upon initiative of TURKSOY Secretary General Mr. Dusen Kasseinov in 2010 is composed of young conservatory students from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Every year, young musicians aged 17-25 are selected by the Ministries of Culture of TURKSOY member states and come together under the auspices of the organization to rehearse before going on tour in various countries of the world. Since its establishment, the orchestra, which performs works by composers hailing from Turkic-speaking nations as well as world classics in its concerts, has come together more than a dozen times and given more than 50 concerts in major artistic venues of the world. The orchestra has also recorded three albums by now. Despite its young age, it has already made a notable contribution to introducing the classical music, culture and art of Turkic-speaking peoples to the world. The conductor of the orchestra which is on tour with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Yunus Emre Institute is Maestro Mustafa Mehmandarov from Azerbaijan.
