Celebration of World Water Day: Nature based solutions for water management in Costa Rica

Round table on the celebration of World Water Day (WWD), aimed at people who work in Non-Governmental Organizations and institutions related to water: universities, researchers and specialists, private companies. The activity will take place on March 21, 2018 in the auditorium of the Federated College of Engineers and Architects of Costa Rica.

The focus of the activity is Nature based solutions for water, coincident with the theme of the United Nations World Water Development Report (WWDR) 2018. During the activity, there will be presentation of activities implemented by stakeholders and entities on Nature solutions for water, in addition to create a dialogue between the participants and speakers. There will also be an exhibition space for institutions on the thematic of the WWD.

The objective of this activity is to participate in the celebration of World Water Day 2018, as well as provide a space for participatory dialogue in decision-making processes at all levels, to increase public awareness of the need to escalate the social, economic and environmental benefits in the integral management of water resources. This event allows disseminating and facilitating interaction and dialogue between different actors around the management of water resources and natural solutions.

The activity is led by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. In collaboration with different institutions such as the UNESCO-San José; the Regional Office of International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the United Nations Development Program in Costa Rica, the Regional Committee of Hydraulic Resources- SICA and the CONAPHI institutions in Costa Rica (CONAHyME).
