Caribbean Workshop on Information for All (IFAP) and Memory of the World (MoW) Programmes
The Workshop aims at creating/reinvigorating IFAP and MoW National Committees in the Caribbean. The event seeks to establish the technical groundwork for the development of a Caribbean Action Plan to help overcome the challenge of the digital divide, through strategic policy implementation and unrestrained access to information.
The Information for All Programme (IFAP) and Memory of the World (MoW) Committees in the Western Caribbean Countries will organize a 2-day workshop in St. Maarten from 21 to 22 November 2018. The event is organized by the UNESCO Cluster Office for the Caribbean and the St. Maarten National Commission for UNESCO, in close collaboration with Communication and Information Sector at UNESCO.
The workshop will set the basis for the establishment and strengthening of IFAP/MoW National Committees in the Caribbean Countries. It will thereby boost governments’ actions towards development of inclusive knowledge society. The meeting will promote cooperation among policy makers, information professionals and practitioners to increase awareness on the importance of knowledge and information for societal transformation processes and sustainable development.
