Caribbean Sub-Regional Workshop on Education Statistics
The main objective of the sub-regional workshop is to strengthen statistical capacity of the Ministries of Education in the Caribbean. The workshop is to reinforce the past support provided by the UNESCO Institute of Statistics and Regional Bureau for Education in Santiago to strengthen national capacities of Ministries of Education in data collection, analysis and production of internationally comparable statistics on education in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
This will be an opportunity for UNESCO to dialogue with national experts on new trends in education statistics and indicators and share best practices within the region. The revised ISCED 2011 will be discussed at the workshop. The statistical needs in-terms of data collection, analysis and reporting of the participating countries will also be discussed and strategies designed to assist the Member States. Regional institutions such as CARICOM, OECS Secretariat, UNICEF and Development Partners will attend the workshop. Twenty-three countries and territories in the Caribbean have confirmed participation. Forty participants from 23 Caribbean Ministries of Education and regional institutions will attend the sub-regional workshop.
The workshop is organized by UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean in collaboration with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Santiago.
