Biological and Cultural Diversity in Argentinian biosphere reserves

As part of the week of Cultural and Biological Diversity (International Days of cultural diversity – 21 May and biological diversity -22 May) UNESCO and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina, are organizing a panel on "cultural and biological diversity in Argentinian Biosphere Reserves "(14.30 Villa Ocampo - San Isidro, Argentina).
Cultural and biological diversity are key factors in the sustainable development of societies, and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. In this context UNESCO, through its Biosphere Reserves, it is committed to promoting biological and cultural diversity to achieve sustainable and equitable development.

The panel will include representatives of indigenous peoples, NGOs, biosphere reserve managers, biologists and anthropologists, in addition to the winning team of scientists of the 2015 Sultan Qaboos UNESCO Prize for Environmental Preservation. Each speaker will illustrate their own experience of what it means to work to promote cultural and biological diversity in UNESCO biosphere reserves in Argentina.

The audience will have an opportunity to exchange with the panelists on initiatives and good practices carried out by local communities, government, academic institutions and the private sector in biosphere reserves to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The event is open to the public.
