The Award Ceremony of the UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean will take place in Bogota, Colombia, on 23 July 2018.
Estefanía Ciro Rodríguez (Colombia) was designated as the laureate of the 2017 Edition of the Prize by UNESCO’s Director-General, on the recommendation of an international jury.
The Award Ceremony of the Prize is co-organized by UNESCO, the Colombian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO and the Dominican Republic National Commission for UNESCO. The event will be organized in the Sala del Consejo de Rectoría, University of Los Andes, in Bogota, Colombia.
Four hundred persons are expected to attend, including renowned intellectuals, government officials and representatives from civil society. The programme of the ceremony contains a series of interventions related to the official award of the prize as well as an academic panel.
The ceremony will be widely disseminated through social media, TV, radio and written press, both at the national level and internationally.
The ceremony will highlight UNESCO’s commitments to the global agendas in favour of inclusive, sustainable and peaceful societies.
Awarded every two years, the Prize is intended to reward young social scientists who, through their work, contribute to strengthening the links between research and public policies.
