Considering the great interest shown in the subject by participants of the previous regional conferences and following up on the success of the Conference in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention, organized by UNESCO in Geneva, Switzerland (March 2019) the protection of cultural property will be the focus of this edition of the Regional Conference.

The 70th anniversary of the four 1949 Geneva Conventions will be commemorated, as well as the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention.

The IHL regional conferences are aimed primarily at practitioners from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Ministries of Justice, Ministries of Culture and Attorney-General’s Chambers responsible for IHL. The conferences have always been an opportunity to gather and exchange ideas and points of view in a regional forum. External experts are also invited to provide information and insights on the topics.
