The Bureau of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) will gather for its 58th annual project selection meeting at UNESCO Headquarters. Its eight members will consider media development projects proposals from developing countries and allocate funds from the IPDC Special Account accordingly.
The IPDC Bureau comprises eight members of the Intergovernmental Council of the IPDC. Its 58th meeting will be chaired by Mr Jyrki Pulkkinen, Senior Adviser of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, who was elected Chairman of the Programme at the 28th session of the IPDC Council in March 2012. Member States and other interested observers are also welcome to attend this working meeting.

Unique in the United Nations system, the IPDC was created in 1980 with the aim of mobilizing the international community to discuss and promote media development in developing countries. Since its beginning, the Programme has allocated in excess of US$ 100 million to over 1500 projects in more than 140 countries, targeting the most urgent priorities in communication development.
