Organized by UNESCO's Regional Bioethics Programme (UNESCO Office in Montevideo), the West Indian University (WIU) and the Bioethics Society of the English Caribbean (BSEC), the third Regional Ethics Teacher Training Course will take place in the city of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from 13 to 16 June 2017.

The training targets bioethics teachers plying in under or in post-graduation level.

Its purpose is to enable expert teachers by giving them methodological tools in bioethics education (deliberative method, problematizing methodology, use of cases, problem-based learning etc.) and offer them special strategies such as TICs and art at different levels.

The course will also include introductory items on the disciplinary bioethics paradigm and educational contents, such as the human rights approach, and social and environmental issues.

It is a unique opportunity for participants, which will gather renowned international bioethicists around key topical issues in bioethics education, based on the human rights vision promoted by UNESCO.

Regional and subregional education entities, Universities and other institutions promoting bioethics education in Latin America and the Caribbean are invited to give their teachers the opportunity to participate. Independent teachers interested in the topic may also subscribe.

UNESCO will cover registration fees and material expenses for a maximum of 30 selected participants. Participants by their academic entities are expected to cover travel expenses, accommodation and meals.

The applicants will be selected by a committee established for that purpose. The course will only be given in English.
