The 16th Meeting of the United Nations Inter-Agency Committee on Bioethics (UNIACB) will be hosted at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, from 18 to 19 April 2017.

It will be an occasion for inter-agency discussion on emerging ethical issues and new development in the field of bioethics.

The meeting is private, and not open to observers.

Since 2003, the United Nations Inter-Agency Committee on Bioethics (UNIACB) has been serving as a key inter-agency mechanism for sharing information between and among intergovernmental organizations dealing with issues related to bioethics, thus fostering better cooperation and coordination.

UNESCO serves as the Permanent Secretariat of the UNIACB.

Since the 1970s, UNESCO's involvement in the field of bioethics has reflected the international dimensions of this debate. Founded on the belief that there can be no peace without the intellectual and moral solidarity of humankind, UNESCO tries to involve all countries in this international and transcultural discussion.
