The Global Summit is a forum for members of national ethics/bioethics committees from all parts of the world to exchange opinions, information and experiences, while seeking agreements and consensus on leading issues in ethics of science and bioethics that demand analysis at the local, regional and global levels. It will be held this year in Berlin, Germany, from 16 to 18 March.

Due to its participants, the issues analyzed, and the results obtained, this Global Summit is regarded by governments and UNESCO as one of the most privileged opportunities to share reflection and network on issues such as ethics, bioethics and health.

The Global Summit 2016 is jointly organized by the German Ethics Council and the World Health Organization (WHO) in close collaboration with UNESCO.

Several steering committee members are current and former members of the International Bioethics Committee of UNESCO. And in this 11th session, the agenda will also treat topics that the International Bioethics Committee considers priorities for its current work programme. The concerns of National Ethics/Bioethics Committees can also inform the work of UNESCO’s Bioethics Programmes.

Over 200 participants are expected.
